The Disney Company started in 1923 as the Disney Brothers Studio when Walt Disney and his brother Roy Disney set up shop. The Disneyland Park, originally Disneyland, is the first of two theme parks built at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, opened on July 17, 1955. It is the only theme park designed and built to completion under the direct supervision of Walt Disney.
Disneyland Resort is located in Anaheim, Southern California, about an hour outside of downtown Los Angeles by car. The entire resort comprises the following:
Disney California Adventure is, at least in name, a park dedicated to those who built the Golden State. In actuality, it is sort of a place for Disney to put a great collection of attractions with some measure of Disney theming. It’s home to Pixar Pier and the Avengers Campus. Both parks have great nighttime shows—Fantasmic at Disneyland and World of Color at Disney California Adventure. Seasonal nighttime shows are also occasionally added.
Disneyland celebrates a variety of events, including Halloween, Christmas, Lunar New Year, Food & Wine (in Spring), Dia de los Muertos, and others. The most compelling of these are Halloween and Christmas, primarily because they feature the Haunted Mansion overlay “Haunted Mansion Holiday,” which is a Nightmare Before Christmas overlay on Haunted Mansion.
Disneyland theme park in California is one of America's best-known theme parks. It may come as a surprise to you, but there are at least nine lands within the entire Disneyland theme park, covering a total of 100 acres, which is equivalent to at least 76 football fields.
Main Street is Walt Disney's replica of his hometown, Marceline, Missouri. Main Street features a movie theater, town square, train station, firehouse, emporium, shops, arcades, and a double-decker bus.
It also houses the Disney Art Gallery and the Opera House that holds the Lincoln stage show's Great Moments. And if you walk to Main Street's far end, you can find the Central Plaza, the Partners Statue, and Sleeping Beauty's Castle.
The second of the nine lands of Disneyland is Adventureland. When you step into this land, it will transport you to an exotic tropical place that makes you feel like you're in a forest/jungle-ish environment. You can find famous attractions here, such as:
Once you have explored the jungle environment, you can move on to the Wild West and visit Frontierland. Themed to the American Frontier of the 19th century, Frontierlands are home to cowboys and pioneers, saloons, red rock buttes and gold rushes along with some influence from American history and North America in general.
Fantasyland is one of the original themed lands at Disneyland. Fantasyland features Sleeping Beauty Castle at its front, which is also the park's icon, and a central courtyard dominated by King Arthur Carrousel, in front of which sits a sword in an anvil; several times each day a costumed Merlin helps a child pull the sword from it.
Walt Disney had a vision of what the future would look like and turned that idea into reality by creating Tomorrowland.
New Orleans is well-known for its distinct environment, and Walt Disney took inspiration from the city and created New Orleans Square on July 24, 1966. This park is home to the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean attraction.
In Critter Country, every day is a “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah” kind of day. Critter Country today remains a restful world filled with shady trees babbling brooks and all kinds of playful animals, from the honey-loving bear that is stuffed with fluff to a hodgepodge of creatures from the briar. Critter Country is home to three attractions:
Everything about this land is cartoon-themed, with inspiration from the 1988 film "Who Framed Roger Rabbit." You can also find the houses of famous cartoon characters, including Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and Donald Duck.
At Disneyland Park, Galaxy's Edge is located in the northwest portion of the park, with three entries from Frontierland, Critter Country, and Fantasyland. Galaxy's Edge is set in the village of Black Spire Outpost, on the remote frontier planet of Batuu, featuring attractions, shops, restaurants and entertainment.
Avengers Campus is inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe, featuring attractions based on characters originating from Marvel Comics and appearing in MCU media. The area is anchored around an Avengers campus located on the former restricted grounds of a Stark Industries and Strategic Scientific Reserve complex. Attractions and restaurants include:
Buena Vista Street is the first area seen upon entering the park. It represents Los Angeles in the 1920s, when Walt Disney first arrived there. Similar to Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland Park, it has shops, restaurants, and a transportation system. Its central hub has entrances to Hollywood Land, Grizzly Peak, and Pacific Wharf. In the hub's center, also known as Carthay Circle, is a replica of the Carthay Circle Theater, where Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarves debuted in 1937. Guests can ride from Buena Vista Street to the end of Hollywood Land on the Red Car Trolley. It stops at Kingswell Camera Shop, and the Carthay Circle Restaurant. Other restaurants along the street include Mortimer's Market; Trolley Treats; Clarabelle's Hand Scooped Ice Cream; and Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Cafe. Main stores along the street include Oswald's, Five & Dime, Big Top Toys, Kingswell Camera Shop, and Elias & Co.
Cars Land is a land themed after the Disney PIXAR film Cars, which is designed to look like the town of Radiator Springs on the town's big race day. Cars Land is designed as a life-size model and near-exact replica of the town of Radiator Springs from the Cars films. The land includes several dining and shopping venues. The district serves as a connection between Pacific Wharf, Hollywood Land, and Avengers Campus.
Grizzly Peak is themed around California's wilderness and national parks, with particular references to Yosemite and Redwood national parks. Its main attractions:
.Hollywood Land is inspired by the Golden Age of Hollywood in the 1930s. It includes attractions based on film, television, theater and a subsection called Hollywood Studios, which is designed to appear as an active studio backlot. It's main attractions:
Located between Pixar Pier and Avengers Campus, Pacific Wharf is themed to resemble the old waterfront of Monterey, California as a tribute to its fishing industry. The Bakery Tour and the Walt Disney Imagineering Blue Sky Cellar are its only attractions. It is primarily an outdoor food court with the following restaurants:
Paradise Gardens, the largest land in Disney California Adventure, is at the park's center, with direct entrances to Pixar Pier, Pacific Wharf and Grizzly Peak. The Paradise Gardens Park area, in front of The Little Mermaid, is a prominent place to watch the World of Color water show and for taking photos with Pixar Pier as a backdrop. Paradise Garden's five attractions include:
Pixar Pier is themed after many of the major films produced by Pixar Animations Studios, and is divided into four districts; Incredibles Park, Toy Story Boardwalk, Pixar Promenade, and Inside Out Headquarters. Its attractions include:
As with other Disney Parks, characters based on Disney properties roam around the themed areas of the park
