The Disneyland Halloween 2024 season will run from September until October 31 at the Disneyland Resort. Halloween is a big-time affair at Disneyland Park, with plenty of decorations, entertainment and other goodies!
Guests can enjoy seasonal entertainment, plus special eats and drinks. There are also seasonal overlays to some of the resort's very best rides, including the Haunted Mansion Holiday hosted by Jack Skellington. The Halloween Screams show is now a projection and special effects show that will light up Disneyland Park most nights of the Halloween season. The show is enhanced with fireworks on select nights (typically weekends).
So if you are interested, buy tickets as soon as they go on sale. The most popular dates sell out right away, but all dates sell out in advance — in fact, last year's event sold out right away. It's possible that some party merchandise will sell out early and won't be available for all party dates, so keep that in mind if it's important to you.
Also, keep in mind that Disneyland usually experience very hot nights early in the season. If you have an elaborate costume planned, you might want to wait until the nights cool off a bit.
Definitely my favorite site as you walk in front of Main Street at Disneyland during the Halloween season. Main Street, U.S.A. is turned into a pumpkin festival with hundreds of hand-carved pumpkins on display. Carve out some time to see it!
On select nights during Halloween Time, Disney California Adventure plays host to the Halloween Party — Oogie Boogie Bash. The whole family is invited to dress up in costumes and trick or treat throughout the park. Some of the treat trails are themed after villains and have a live villain to entertain you as you gather candy. The magical Villains Grove is a delight. The party takes place on select nights in September and October. You'll enjoy character encounters with Disney Villains and photo-ops with rare Disney characters and Pixar pals. Catch the Frightfully Fun Parade as it passes through the park with Jack Skellington, Mickey, Minnie and a gang of villains
You can gather with some of Disneyland's biggest villains, along with other favorite Disney characters, for meet-and-greets — in costumes, of course! Jack Skellington and Sally are popular in New Orleans Square. After they leave for the day, you can meet characters from the Haunted Mansion. Cruella de Vil and the Queen of Hearts stalk about Main Street and near the park entrance.
The residents of Radiator Springs at Disneyland California Adventure park are getting into the spirit of Haul-O-Ween, decorating each of their establishments. Even Tow Mater and Lightning McQueen enjoy dressing up donning their own car-stumes!
If you have seen this Disneyland parade already, this might be a good place to save time by skipping since the party is so short. Spend your time on new experiences rather than waiting for the parade. On other hand, there are fewer shows to compete with your time, so this may be the year to watch! The Hitchhiking Ghosts are back on the front of the Haunted Mansion float. Constance Hatchaway (the bride) is on the backside of the float.
Trick-or-treaters can collect candy from cauldrons along the trick-or-treat trails throughout the park. Besides candy, you can collect healthy goodies such as carrots, apple slices and Pirate’s Booty from the regular treat trails.
When you enter the Disneyland park, a cast member will hand you a bag to collect candy, but you might want to bring your own larger and sturdier bag to haul your loot around. If it gets heavy, store it in a stroller or locker (along with sweatshirts or rain gear).
You might want to save trick-or-treating until later in the night when lines tend to go down. That way you do not have to carry the candy all night. The lines are longest in the beginning and disappear as the night goes on, so do not waste early party time waiting in candy lines.
There is so much candy and it's not going anywhere. You can let a cast member know if you have allergies.
You'll want to arrive early to this event — lines can grow scary long! You can enter the park as early as 3 p.m. and the event starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m. I do recommend that you get there early to get the most out of your time when visiting. If you are entering the party early, you may see two separate entrance areas, one for daytime guests and one for party guests. Party guests are directed to an area to collect a wristband, map and bag. Another thing to note is the Oogie Boogie bash Disney PhotoPass is included with the cost of of your ticket and you can take as many photos as you want. The colored wristband has the day and party date as well as a QR PhotoPass code to link to the Disneyland app.
The wristband allows you to stay in the park once it closes. Guests without wristbands are unable to move about the park once the park closes to the public and the party officially starts. Cast members check wristbands throughout the night and rope off areas to check wristbands. As the regular park hours come to a close, cast members will begin ushering out guests without wristbands. If you will be in the park all day, you do not need to exit to get your wristband (we recommend you do NOT leave or you'll face long lines to get back in). You can check-in at Blue Sky Cellar. If you do need to exit the party, take your ticket with you so you can get back in.
Some major entertainment times are on the Disneyland app, but not all. The event guide has all of the showtimes and locations for character sightings and trails.
The cast members wear party clothes for this event. The treat holders vary. Sometimes they are cauldrons and sometimes rectangular carts. The treat trail markers look like taller Oogie Boogie ghosts. Besides a ton of candy, we got carrots, healthy snacks and even glow-in-the-dark temporary tattoos! That candy sure gets heavy!
